प्राचीन नाम/उपनाम

• सपनो की नगरी, मनोरंजन हब, साईबर सिटी, मिलेनियर सिटी, मेडी सिटी, इलेक्ट्रानिक सिटी, उत्तर भारत का काॅल सेंटर ऑफ कैपिटल, भारत की माल सिटी, उद्योग विहार।
• 13 अप्रैल, 2016 को गुड़गाव से नाम बदलकर गुरुग्राम रखा गया था।
• पांडवों के ज्येष्ठ पुत्र युधिष्ठर ने यह गाँव अपने गुरु द्रोणाचार्य को गुरु दक्षिणा के रूप में भेट किया था। इस गाँव का पुराना नाम गुड़गाँव मसानी था, क्योंकि यहाँ पर माता मसानी (चेचक की देवी शीतला माता) का मंदिर स्थित है। गुरु द्रोणाचार्य की पत्नी का नाम शीतला माता था।
• 1857 के समय यहाँ तीन रियासतें तथा 11 परगने थे। जिले का पहला डीसी केवन्डिस बना था, जिसे लोग घमंडी साहब कह कर पुकारते थे।

किले व मस्जिद व महल

• सराय अलवर्दी की मस्जिद– इसका निर्माण अलाउद्दीन खिलजी ने करवाया था।
• गोपाल गिरी का किला– यह किला बलवन द्वारा बनवाया गया था।
• सोहना का किला- भतरपुर के राजा जवाहर सिंह के समय 18वीं शताब्दी में यहाँ एक किले का निर्माण किया गया, जिसे सोहना का किला कहा जाने लगा, जो अब खंडहर के रूप में विद्यमान है।
• पटौदी महल– पटौदी के वास्तुकार हेंज ने नवाब इब्राहिम अली खाँ के महल का डिजाइन बनाया और 1953 में पटौदी महल के नाम से एक भव्य महल का निर्माण किया। जिसे गांव के लोग व्हाइट पैलेस के नाम से पुकारते है। इस महल को नवाब मसूर अली पटौदी का महल कहा जाता है। अब इस महल में नीमराणा समूह की ओर से हेरीटेज होटल चलाया जा रहा है।
• शीश महल– यह बिल्कुल लाल किले की नकल है। यह महल फर्रुखनगर में फौजदार खाँ द्वारा बनवाया गया।

शीतला माता मंदिर

• गुरुग्राम में गुरु द्रोणाचार्य की पत्नी और चेचक देवी शीतला माता का मंदिर स्थित है। इस मंदिर का निर्माण 1650 ई0 में राजा जोहरसिंह ने करवाया था। यह मंदिर राजस्थानी वास्तु कला में है। हरियाणा सरकार द्वारा श्री माता शीतला देवी पूजा स्थल बोर्ड का गठन 1991 में किया गया था। इस बोर्ड में 11 सदस्य होते है। हरियाणा के मुख्यमंत्री इसके अध्यक्ष तथा जिला उपायुक्त इस बोर्ड का सदस्य एवं मुख्य प्रशासक होता है।

पुलिस कमिश्नरी

• हरियाणा में गुरुग्राम ऐसा पहला जिला है, जहाँ पुलिस कमिश्नरेट सिस्टम लागू किया है। इसके अंतर्गत पुलिस महानिरीक्षक रैंक के अधिकारी को पुलिस आयुक्त नियुक्त किया गया है, जिसके अधीन भारतीय पुलिस सेवा के छह पुलिस आयुक्त कार्यरत है।

नगर निगम

• गुरुग्राम नगर परिषद को राज्य सरकार द्वारा वर्ष 2008 में नगर निगम का दर्जा दिया गया।

चौधरी देवीलाल आदर्श औद्योगिक नगरी

• यह गुरुग्राम के मानेसर में 500 एकड़ जमीन पर फैला है। केंद्र सरकार द्वारा ऑटोमोबाइल उद्योग के लिए अनुसंधान एवं विकास संस्थान गुरुग्राम के मानेसर में स्थापति किया गया है।
• गुरुग्राम में 1857 की क्रांति में 13 मई, 1857 को शुरू हुई।

सुल्तानपुर राष्ट्रीय उद्यान

• यह पार्क गुरुग्राम के सुल्तानपुर में स्थित है। यह पार्क 143 हेक्टेयर में फैला हुआ है। 1972 में पक्षियों के प्रसिद्ध वैज्ञानिक डाॅ. सलीम अली ने इसे जलीय पक्षियों के लिए आरक्षित घोषिक कर दिया गया था। यह पार्क साइबेरियन सारस के लिए प्रसिद्ध है। सुल्तानपुर राष्ट्रीय उद्यान का दूसरा नाम सलीम अली पक्षी विहार भी है।

गर्म जल का चश्मा

• यह सोहना, गुरुग्राम जिले का विश्वविख्यात स्थान सोहना अपने गर्म जल स्त्रोतों के कारण अपनी पहचान दूर-दूर तक कायम कर चुका है। गंधक की अधिकता के कारण इसका पानी गर्म रहता है। यह मान्यता है कि इसके पानी से स्नान करने से चर्म रोग ठीक होता है

 झील

• दमदमा झील गुरुग्राम के सोहना में स्थित है। यह झील हरियाणा की सबसे बड़ी झील है। यह झील 3000 एकड़ में फैली हुई है।
• सुल्तानपुर झील – फर्रुखनगर (गुरुग्राम)
• खलीलपुर झील – गुरुग्राम

गुरुग्राम के प्रमुख पार्क

• हाईटेक टेक्नोलाॅजी पार्क, बायोटेक पार्क, आई. टी. पार्क, साॅफ्टवेयर टेक्नोलाॅजी पार्क, शमा पर्यटन स्थल, रत्न आभूषण पार्क गढ़ी हसरूर, राजीव गाँधी अक्षय ऊर्जा पार्क

प्रमुख विश्वविद्यालय

• सैनिक विश्वविद्यालय – इस विश्वविद्यालय की स्थापना सन् 2010 में गुरुग्राम के बिनोला गाँव में की गई। इसका उद्धघाटन 23 अप्रैल, सन 2013 को हुआ और रक्षा मंत्रालय के सहयोग से यह विश्वविद्यालय स्थापित किया गया है।

गुड़गाँव नहर

• यह नहर गुरुग्राम की मुख्य सिंचाई नहर है, जो कि गुरुग्राम के अलावा फरीदाबाद जिले में भी सिंचाई करती है। यह नई दिल्ली के निकट ओखला नामक स्थान से यमुना नदी पर बाँध बनाकर निकाली गई है।

• मारुति सुजुकी उद्योग, स्थापना – फरवरी, 1981, प्रथम कार ब्रिकी – 14 दिसंबर 1983

• हरियाणा में सबसे पहले मेट्रो ट्रेन 2010 में गुरुग्राम में चली। हरियाणा में सर्वाधिक राजस्व गुरुग्राम से प्राप्त होता है। गुरुग्राम प्रति व्यक्ति आय में देश का तीसरा सबसे बड़ा शहर है, चंडीगढ़, मुंबई, गुरुग्राम

• 2 फरवरी, 2018 को मानेसर को दूसरा पुलिस जिला घोषित किया गया। (पहला – हांसी)
• मानेसर को ऑटोहब के नाम से भी जाना जाता है।
• राहगीर – डे 22 दिसंबर को मनाया जाता है।
• हरियाणा सरकार अपने खुद के खर्चे पर गुरुग्राम को स्मार्ट सिटी बनाएगी।
