The Swedish Academy, Stockholm has awarded the 2023 Nobel Peace Prize to Iranian human rights activist Nargess Mohammadi. According to the Academy, she has been selected for the award “for her fight against the oppression of women in Iran and her fight to promote human rights and freedom for all.” They will be awarded the prize money of 11 million Swedish kronor on 10 December 2023 in Oslo, Norway. December 10 is the death anniversary of Alfred Nobel, in whose name this award is given.

Telangana State Government launched “Mukhyamantri Breakfast Scheme” in Hyderabad for all school children from classes 1 to 10 studying in government schools other than schools run by Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs). State IT Minister K Tarakarama Rao shared breakfast with students while launching the scheme at a government high school in Hyderabad. Addressing a gathering, the Minister of State said, the scheme will benefit more than 23 lakh students in more than 27 thousand government and Panchayati Raj schools across the state.

Railways has changed the names of three stations of Pratapgarh parliamentary constituency. There was difficulty in changing their names due to the large number of letters. Center for Railway Information System (CRIS) had contacted the officials of Northern Railway Lucknow Division on Thursday. A letter was written to the Planetary Ministry on behalf of the Board, meanwhile on Friday CRIS has decided the station code. Now Pratapgarh name has been changed to Maa Belha Devi Dham Pratapgarh Junction. Its station code will be MBDP.

In a major effort for better connectivity towards the eastern sector of the India-China border, the Border Roads Organization (BRO) has completed 90 per cent construction work on the strategically important Sela Tunnel in Arunachal Pradesh. According to BRO officials, “The Border Roads Organization (BRO) is engaged on a war footing in the construction of tunnels and roads in Arunachal Pradesh and the Sela Tunnel Project is in the final stages of completion.” Nearly 90 percent construction work of the strategically important Sela Tunnel in Arunachal Pradesh has been completed and it is expected to be completed by this year.
