The Punjab government has decided to do away with physical stamp papers in an effort to bring in efficiency and prevent evasion of state revenue. Punjab Revenue Minister Bram Shankar Zimpa launched the ‘e-Stamp Facility’ here. Subsequently, stamp paper of any denomination can now be obtained through ‘e-Stamp’, which includes computerized print-outs from any stamp seller or from banks authorized by the State Government.

Ashwani Bhatia has taken charge as a Whole Time Member (WTM) in the markets regulator Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI). Bhatia was earlier the managing director of the state-owned State Bank of India (SBI). SEBI now has three WTMs after Bhatia’s induction. The government is yet to appoint a fourth member. The market regulator has dealt with just two WTMs in the last seven months since the tenure of current SEBI chairperson Madhabi Puri Buch as WTM ended on October 4, 2021 and G Mahalingam demitting office on November 8, 2021.

Senior IPS officer Zulfikar Hasan has been appointed as the new Director General of the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS). The official order said that Zulfiqar Hasan has been appointed “for a term of office till his retirement on 31.10.2024”. A West Bengal-cadre 1988-batch IPS officer, Zulfikar Hasan is serving as the Special Director General of the Central Reserve Police Force in Delhi. The post of Director General of BCAS is vacant since January 4, as Nasir Kamal had opted for voluntary retirement.

The santoor player was born in 1948 in Sopore, Kashmir Valley and belonged to the Sufiana gharana of Indian classical music. He was the great-grandson of Pandit Shankar Pandit, who developed the style popularly known as ‘Sufi Baaz’ (style) based on Sufiana Kalam and Hindustani classical music.
सोपोरी ने हिंदी, कश्मीरी, डोगरी, सिंधी, उर्दू, संस्कृत, भोजपुरी, पंजाबी, हिमाचली, राजस्थानी, तेलुगु, तमिल आदि विभिन्न भाषाओं और बोलियों में 6000 से अधिक गीतों के लिए संगीत तैयार किया।
