Meghalaya’s Deputy Chief Minister Sniawbhalang Dhar was also present during the inauguration. Rai said the land port would have an impact on the tourism and trade sectors. The port has been built keeping in mind the requirements of both the countries and will provide various facilities such as warehouses, canteens, cargo for tourists and an electric substation.

The ship was decommissioned under the command of Commander Hemant V Salunkhe at a sunset ceremony held at the Naval Base here. It was launched on 16 November 1984 and commissioned on 18 July 1987 at Garden Reach Shipyard and Engineers Limited, Kolkata.

Pakistan is set to become the largest recipient of programmes/projects funded by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) in the year 2022, reports Pakistan Today. According to ADB’s Annual Report 2022, released on Monday, out of total disbursements of over USD 31.8 billion to 40 countries, Pakistan received a loan of USD 5.58 billion. Pakistan is in deep economic crisis and out of total loan of USD 5.58 billion, Pakistan received concessional funds of USD 2.67 billion from the bank last year.
