According to Mercer’s Cost of Living survey, Mumbai has been identified as the most expensive city for expatriates in India. The survey analyzed 227 cities across five continents to determine the cost of living for expatriates. After Mumbai, New Delhi and Bengaluru rank second and third respectively in the list.

The first edition of the maritime partnership exercise between India, France and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) began on 7 June 2023 in the Gulf of Oman. There was participation of INS Tarkash, French ship Surcouf, French Rafale aircraft and UAE Navy maritime patrol aircraft. The maiden exercise between the three countries is aimed at enhancing trilateral cooperation between the three navies and paves the way for adoption of measures to address conventional and non-conventional threats in the maritime environment.

व्याख्या:- अरब सागर में उठा ‘बिपरजॉय साइक्लोन’ गोवा से लगभग 850 किमी पश्चिम में और मुंबई से 900 किमी दक्षिण पश्चिम में है। साथ ही इसके अगले तीन दिनों में और गंभीर रूप लेने की उम्मीद है। भारतीय मौसम विज्ञान विभाग (IMD) के अनुसार यह साइक्लोन कर्नाटक, गोवा और महाराष्ट्र के समुद्र तट तक 35-45 किमी प्रति घंटे की गति से दस्तक देगा। ‘बिपारजॉय’ बांग्लादेश द्वारा सुझाया गया था और इस शब्द का अर्थ बंगाली में ‘आपदा’ होता है।
‘Biparjoy Cyclone’ in the Arabian Sea is about 850 km west of Goa and 900 km southwest of Mumbai. Also, it is expected to take a more serious form in the next three days. According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), this cyclone will hit the coast of Karnataka, Goa and Maharashtra with a speed of 35-45 kmph. ‘Biparjoy’ was suggested by Bangladesh and the word means ‘disaster’ in Bengali.

In a first for an Indian, Ramanathapuram Wildlife Warden and Director of the Gulf of Mannar Biosphere Reserve, Bakan Jagadish Sudhakar has been selected for UNESCO’s Michel Batis Award for effective biosphere reserve management. The Indian Forest Service officers will receive the award and deliver a lecture on their case studies at a ceremony to be held in Paris on June 14.

Britain will host the world’s first summit on artificial intelligence later this year, Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said, in a bid for a common approach to limit the risk of a potential cataclysm of the technology by countries harnessing its potential is to be applied. The summit is expected to take place in the autumn and will gather “like-minded countries” to shape the regulatory response, Sunak’s spokesman said last month after a G7 call for action in Japan.

The Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) signed an MoU with Amazon Farmer on 9 June. The objective of the MoU is to create synergy between these two organizations to guide the farmers on scientific cultivation of various crops for optimum yield and income. ICAR will provide technical support to farmers through Amazon’s network. This collaboration will enable farmers to access valuable agricultural knowledge and resources, improve their livelihood and increase crop yield.

The Meghalaya government will pay up to 100 per cent of the premium amount of Rs 4.4 crore to the farmers, covering crops of both Kharif and Rabi seasons, during the financial year 2023-24. 80 percent of Meghalaya’s population is dependent on agriculture. The Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana was implemented in Meghalaya with effect from Kharif 2016. The purpose behind implementing this is that in the event of crop loss due to natural calamities, the farmers who are suffering can get financial assistance.
