He is the former Managing Director and Chief Executive Director of the state-run Indian Overseas Bank. The tenure of Subramaniakumar under Section 35B of the Banking Regulation Act 1949 will commence from the date of his assumption of office.

The Suraksha-Mitra project, a vehicle monitoring system that sends distress messages in case of any accident, has become operational in the State, Transport Minister Antony Raju has said. The project under the Nirbhaya scheme, launched by the Motor Vehicle Department, envisages sending a distress message to the owners’ mobile phones in case of any untoward incidents while travelling. Owners will receive SMS alerts from the Vehicle Location Tracking Device (VLTD) attached to the vehicles, if the vehicle is involved in an accident or driver over-speeds the vehicle. The alerts would be sent immediately via SMS and e-mail to the relevant mobile number provided during the time of installing the device.

China has released a new geological map of the Moon, which it says is the most detailed ever recorded, recording even finer details of the lunar surface than the US mapped in 2020. The new map, which details craters and structures not previously charted, will aid further research of the Moon. The world’s most detailed map of the Moon released by China is expected to make a major contribution to scientific research, exploration and landing site selection on the Moon.

Industrialist and philanthropist, Ratan Tata was awarded the Honorary Doctor of Literature by the Governor of Maharashtra, Bhagat Singh Koshyari at Raj Bhavan Mumbai. At the first special convocation of HSNC University, Shri Ratan was conferred an Honorary Doctorate degree. The Governor said that the honor of Ratan Tata is indeed the honor of the entire Tata family and the Tata group. HSNC University is a cluster university consisting of existing colleges around Mumbai, namely HR College, Kishanchand Chellaram College, and Bombay Teachers Training College, as the parent body of the HSNC Board.
