The Union Ministry of Culture has announced on 20 December 2022 that Vadnagar City, Gujarat, Sun Temple Modhera, Gujarat and Rock Cut Sculptures Unakoti, Tripura have been added to the tentative list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The presentations were made by the Archaeological Survey of India, which is responsible for the conservation and protection of Indian monuments. With the addition of these three sites, UNESCO has a total of 52 proposals on India’s tentative list. Senior nuclear scientist Dinesh Kumar Shukla has been appointed as the chairman of the Atomic Energy Regulatory Board (AERB) for a period of three years. As per the government order, Shukla, who was the executive director of AERB, will be replaced by G.K. Nageswara Rao will be replaced. A Mechanical Engineering graduate from Jabalpur University, Shukla joined the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE) in 1981. As per the order, Shukla’s tenure as AERB chairman will be of three years. The new chief of AERB, Dinesh Kumar Shukla is a Mechanical Engineering graduate from Madhya Pradesh’s Jabalpur University (MP).
