The Border Roads Organization (BRO) on Monday put up a signboard at the border village of “Mana” in Uttarakhand, declaring it as the “first Indian village”. The stolen idol of Lord Hanuman belonging to the Chola period has been recovered and handed over to Murti Wing, Tamil Nadu. The idol of Lord Hanuman was stolen from the Vishnu temple of Sri Varatharaja Perumal at Pottavelli Vellore in Ariyalur district. It belongs to the Later Chola period (14th–15th centuries). It was documented by the “French Institute of Pondicherry” in the year 1961. The statue was handed over to the High Commissioner of India in Canberra.

Former Chief Minister of Punjab and senior leader of Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) Parkash Singh Badal passed away at the age of 95 on 25 April 2023. Parkash Singh Badal was born on 8 December 1927 at Abul Khurana near Malot. He entered the state assembly from Malout in 1957 as a Congress candidate. Entered the assembly from Gidderbaha seat in 1969 on SAD ticket and was elected MLA 11 times, losing only twice.
