Coast Guard District Headquarters Haldia, under the aegis of HQ Coast Guard Region (NE) conducted a Joint Coastal Security Exercise “SAGAR KAWACH” off the coast of West Bengal from 25-26 Apr 23. Stakeholders participating in the exercise along with Indian Coast Guard included Indian Navy, BSF, Marine Police, West Bengal Police, CISF, Forest Department, Fisheries Department, Customs, Haldia Dock Complex, MMD and various intelligence agencies.

The Heritage Foundation’s 29th Economic Freedom Index – 2023 has been released. India has an economic freedom score of 52.9, making its economy the 131st freest in the 2023 index. Its score is 1.0 points less than last year. India is ranked 27th out of 39 countries in the Asia-Pacific region, and its overall score is below the world and regional average. India’s neighboring countries Bhutan (19), Bangladesh (26) are ahead in the Asia rank. In the year 2023, the financial freedom of 184 countries has been assessed.

Maninder Pal Singh was elected as the secretary for the second time while Sudish Kumar from Kerala was elected as the treasurer. 26 of the boards and states affiliated to the CFI participated in the union body meeting.

The world’s second-deepest blue hole has been found off the coast of Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula. The team of scientists has recently discovered it and its depth has been told up to 900 feet. According to scientists, this blue hole is spread over about 1,47,000 square meters. Actually, Blue Hole is a kind of vertical cave, which is present under water. The Blue Hole has its own biodiversity, in which many types of flora and sea creatures live. This recently discovered blue hole was named ‘Taam ja’, which means ‘deep water’ in Mayan language.

India and the United Kingdom will soon begin the seventh edition of the bilateral training exercise Ajay Warrior 2023. The exercise is part of an initiative to develop interoperability and share expertise with friendly foreign countries. Military forces of both countries participate in this joint military exercise. It is a bilateral training exercise between the armies of India and UK. The exercise will see the participation of an infantry company from India and a unit of equal strength from the British Army.
