The final of the 15th CEC Cup Men’s Ice Hockey Championship, 2022 was played between the teams of ITBP and Ladakh Scouts at an ice hockey rink at the NDS Sports Complex in Leh. It was a very competitive game and every effort was made by both the teams, but only one is the winner. Ladakh Scouts finally won and they won the 15th CEC Cup Men’s Ice Hockey Championship 2022.

Para-archer, Pooja Jatayan has created history as she became the first Indian to win a silver in an individual section of the Para World Championships in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. She lost to Italy’s Patrilli Vincenza in the final and was satisfied with the silver medal. India ended its campaign with two silver medals, a first for the country.

The University Grants Commission has appointed educationist and research scientist Professor Bhushan Patwardhan as the chairman of the executive committee of the National Assessment and Accreditation Council, Bengaluru. The post was vacant after Professor Jagdish Kumar was appointed as the chairman of the UGC.

Google has announced the launch of ‘Play Pass’ subscription service in India that will give Android device users access to over 1,000 apps and games without ads, in-app purchases and upfront payments. Play Pass, which is currently available in 90 countries, will offer a high-quality and curated collection of 1000+ titles across 41 categories from developers in 59 countries, including several countries in India, Google said in a statement.

The 31st Southeast Asian Games will be held in Vietnam from May 12 to 23, 2022. It is the largest sporting event in Southeast Asia and is a biennial event. The event was originally scheduled to take place in November 2021, but was postponed due to the COVID pandemic. The Games will have 40 sports with 526 events involving around 10,000 participants, the organizers announced at a press conference here.

Physicist Professor, Deepak Dhar has become the first Indian to be awarded the Boltzmann Medal. The Commission on Statistical Physics of the International Union of Pure and Applied Physics awards this medal once in three years for contributions to the field of statistical physics. The medal presentation ceremony will be held on the sidelines of the Statfizz28 conference to be held in Tokyo in August this year. He shared the medal with John J Hofield of Princeton University.

India’s first ambulance for street animals has been launched in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. It has been started by Blue Cross of India in association with International Animal Welfare Organization “Four Paws”. Justice Dr Anita Sumanth of Madras High Court inaugurated the ambulance. The Stray Animal Care Program will be a “Hospital on Wheels” with an onboard vet to provide on-site treatment to injured and sick street animals.
