हाल ही में उड़िया कवि डॉ. राजेंद्र किशोर पांडा को कुवेम्पु राष्ट्रीय पुरस्कार (पुरस्कार) 2020 के लिए चुना गया है। 1944 में जन्में डॉ. पांडा ओडिशा के कवि और उपन्यासकार हैं। उनके 16 कविता संग्रह और एक उपन्यास प्रकाशित हो चुके हैं। उन्हें 2010 में गंगाधर राष्ट्रीय पुरस्कार और 1985 में साहित्य अकादमी पुरस्कार प्रदान किया गया था।
Recently, Odia poet Dr. Rajendra Kishore Panda has been selected for the Kuvempu Rashtriya Puraskar (award) 2020. Dr. Panda, born in 1944, is a poet and novelist from Odisha. He has published 16 poetry collections and a novel. He was presented the Gangadhar National Award in 2010, and the Sahitya Akademi Award in 1985.

Israeli defence major Rafael Advanced Defense Systems Wednesday unveiled Sea Breaker, a 5th generation long range, autonomous, precision-guided missile system meant to hit high-value maritime and land targets. Described by the firm as a naval and artillery unit force-multiplier, Sea Breaker, which has stand-off ranges of up to 300 km, can be fired both from land and surface ships.

An Indian Navy warship carried out a military exercise with a South Korean vessel in the East China Sea on Monday amid China’s growing assertiveness in the region, officials said. “Indian Navy’s indigenous ASW Corvette INS Kiltan deployed in the Far East undertook Navy Partnership Exercise in East China Sea with Republic of Korea Navy Ship–ROKS Gyeongnam, a Daegu-class frigate, on June 28,” a spokesperson of the Indian Navy said.

As part of efforts to improve the mental well being of the people of Jammu and Kashmir amid COVID-19, the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) on Wednesday inaugurated the ‘Sukoon’, the union territory’s first 24×7 counselling helpline number to provide mental health counselling. The name of the program literally translates to ‘relief’ and its main goal is to provide guidance to people dealing with anxiety, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), substance abuse, panic attacks and several other mental issues.

Air Marshal Vivek Ram Chaudhari will be the new Deputy Chief of the Indian Air Force after Air Marshal Harjit Singh Arora. Air Marshal Choudhary is currently serving as the Commander-in-Chief of IAF’s Western Air Command (WAC), which looks after the security of the country’s airspace in the sensitive Ladakh sector as well as various other parts of North India . Air Marshal Arora retires and Air Marshal Chaudhary is likely to take over.

Chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy on Thursday launched the YSR Bima scheme with new guidelines and paid Rs 750 crore as the premium. The guidelines were changed to facilitate the state government paying the insurance amount directly to the family of the deceased. The scheme will support 1.32 lakh families in the state. The chief minister said the government prioritised public health care and pegged the annual income for Aarogyasri at Rs 5 lakh and increased the number of treatments to 2,450.
