NASA-turned-SpaceX flight surgeon Anil Menon is among the 10 latest trainee astronauts who will join the US space agency’s class of 2021 as it plans the first manned mission to the Moon in more than 50 years. Born to Indian and Ukrainian parents and raised in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Menon is a lieutenant colonel in the US Air Force. He was SpaceX’s first flight surgeon, helped launch the company’s first humans into space during NASA’s SpaceX Demo-2 mission, and built a medical organization to support the human system during future missions.

Ropesh Goyal of IIT-Kanpur won the ‘Young Geospatial Scientist’ award for his unparalleled contribution in developing the Indian Geoid Model and Computation Software. AS Kiran Kumar, Member of Space Commission, Government of India and former Chairman of ISRO, presented the award to Goyal during the inaugural ceremony of DigiSmart India 2021 conference organized by Geospatial World.

Defending world champion PV Sindhu has won the BWF World Tour Finals in 2018 becoming the only Indian to achieve the feat.

Kerala native Sruthy Sithara on Wednesday was crowned as Miss Trans Global 2021. According to a report in The New Indian Express, Sithara received the award on December 1 in her hometown, Vaikom in Kerala, during an online event. She became the first Indian to win this title.

Bal Krishna Madhur’s autobiography titled ‘At Home in the Universe’ released by R.C. Sinha, IAS (Retd.), Advisor to the Ministry of Road Development at Mumbai, Maharashtra. The book is the autobiography of BK Madhur, former Chief Executive Officer of DHFL Property Services Ltd, and one of the key personalities in the founding of Dewan Housing. The book offers an inside look into the policy environment in the housing finance sector in the 1980s and 1990s. The book covers the difficulties, experiences and life lessons of the author’s early life.
