Singapore-based T Raja Kumar has been appointed as the chairman of the Financial Action Task Force, the world’s anti-money laundering and anti-terrorism financing agency. His appointment is for a fixed tenure of two years, which will start from July 1. During the plenary session of the FATF, he was selected to replace Dr. Marcus Pleier of Germany.

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps successfully launched a military satellite, Noor-2, into orbit at an altitude of 500 kilometers (311 miles) above Earth. This is the second military satellite launched by the Islamic Republic. The first military satellite, Noor, was launched in April 2020 into an orbit of 425 km (265 mi) above Earth’s surface. Noor means light in Persian language.

हरियाणा सरकार ने अंतर्राष्ट्रीय महिला दिवस पर महिला उद्यमियों को सहायता प्रदान करने के लिए मातृशक्ति उदयमिता योजना की घोषणा की है। योजना के तहत, जिन महिलाओं की पारिवारिक वार्षिक आय परिवार पहचान पत्र सत्यापित आंकड़ों के आधार पर 5 लाख रुपये से कम है, उन्हें वित्तीय संस्थानों द्वारा 3 लाख रुपये तक के सॉफ्ट लोन तक पहुंच प्रदान की जाएगी। इसके बाद हरियाणा महिला विकास निगम के माध्यम से तीन साल के लिए 7% का ब्याज सबवेंशन भी प्रदान किया जाएगा।

Haryana Government has announced Matrushakti Udyamita Yojana to provide assistance to women entrepreneurs on International Women’s Day. Under the scheme, women whose family annual income is less than Rs 5 lakh based on family identity card verified data will be provided access to soft loans up to Rs 3 lakh by financial institutions. After this, an interest subvention of 7% will also be provided for three years through Haryana Mahila Vikas Nigam.

The world’s tallest statue of Lord Buddha is being built in Bodh Gaya. Built by Buddha International Welfare Mission, this statue will be 100 feet long and 30 feet high. Lord Buddha is in a sleeping posture in the idol. The construction of the giant statue started in the year 2019. It is being made from fiberglass and is being made by sculptors from Kolkata. Bodh Gaya is an important pilgrimage center for Buddhism and is visited by devotees from all over the world.

Due to the low participation of urban educated women in the workforce, Axis Bank has launched the ‘House Work is Work’ project, which provides possibilities for those who want to return to the workforce. Rajkamal Vempati, President and Head (HR), Axis Bank, said in an interview about the bank’s recent hiring initiative ‘House Work is Work’, “The intention behind this initiative is to make these women believe that they are employable. “They have the skills, and that they can fit into different job roles in a bank, and it’s about getting these women back to work.”

In Chess, Indian Grandmaster, SL Narayanan was declared the winner at the Grandiscchi Cattolica International Open held in Italy. Meanwhile, his compatriot R Pragyanand stood second. However, six others including Narayanan and Pragyananand finished first with 6.5 points after nine rounds. But, Narayanan secured the top spot on the basis of a better tie-break score. SL Narayanan, 24, from Thiruvananthapuram, earned the title of Grandmaster in 2015 and is the 41st Grandmaster of India.

Bangladeshi environmental lawyer, Rizwana Hassan has been selected for the 2022 International Women of Courage Award. She is among 12 women from around the world who will be honored by the US State Department award for showing exceptional courage and leadership to drive change in their communities. A virtual ceremony will be held on March 14 to felicitate the 12 women selected for the award.
