Rajesh Malhotra is a 1989 batch officer, who replaced Satyendra Prakash. Prakash retired on Tuesday. Singapore Airlines will pay an additional S$360 million (US$267 million) to Air India. With the acquisition by Tata and merger with Vistara Airlines, this will give SIA a 25.1% interest in the firm. Through this deal, SIA will strengthen its ties with the Tatas and gain an immediate strategic position in a company four to five times larger than Vistara in terms of size. Once the brands are amalgamated, Singapore Airlines will be a quarter of a company with 218 aircraft and access to higher paid parking and landing slots around the world.
