Jishnu Baruah has become the new chairman of electricity regulator Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC). Baruah has been appointed as the chairman of CERC on February 27, 2023. Baruah was the Chief Secretary of Assam from October 2020 to August 2022. Prior to this, he was the Additional Chief Secretary of Assam from August 2017 to October 2020. After retirement, Baruah took charge as the chairman of the Assam Power Distribution Company Limited.

The award is given to him for his successful navigation of technology related challenges while maintaining the strong performance of the bank. Jagadishan, popularly known as Shashi, took charge of HDFC Bank on October 27, 2020 after his illustrious predecessor Aditya Puri stepped down on attaining the age of 70.

Mumbai moved up from 92nd to 37th position in the global list of price volatility of luxury homes as the city witnessed a growth of 6.4 per cent during the calendar year 2022. Property consultant Knight Frank virtually released ‘The Wealth Report 2023’ in which Mumbai is ranked 37th. The value of the Prime International Residential Index (PIRI 100) which tracks the movement of luxury home prices around the world, said the Knight Frank report. In 2022, there has been an increase of 5.2 percent on an annual basis.

Exercise SHINYU Maitri is being conducted on the sidelines of Indo-Japanese joint military exercise, Dharma Patron, which was held from 13 February 2023 to 02 March 2023 at Komatsu, Japan. An Indian Air Force contingent with a C-17 Globemaster III aircraft is participating in Exercise SHINYU Maitree 23. The exercise is being conducted on 01 and 02 March 2023.

The 8th edition of the National Conference on Economics of Competition Law was held in New Delhi on 3rd March. The conference is being organized every year by the Competition Commission of India (CCI) since 2016. Dr V Ananth Nageswaran, Chief Economic Advisor, Ministry of Finance, delivered the keynote address in the inaugural session.
