The National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA) on Tuesday approved the proposal to create tiger reserves in Karauli and Dholpur districts of Rajasthan. With this, the Dholpur-Karauli Tiger Reserve has become the 54th sanctuary in the country dedicated to tigers. It is the fifth tiger reserve in Rajasthan after Ranthambore, Sariska, Mukundra Hills and Ramgarh Vishdhari. Union Environment Minister Bhupendra Singh posted on the microblogging site ‘X’ (formerly Twitter), “Rajasthan has taken a giant leap in wildlife conservation. Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann launched the ‘Student Police Cadet Scheme’ in the state. Under this scheme, in the first phase, 11200 students of class 8 from 280 government schools of the state have been selected, who participated in the event through video conferencing. Giving information about this scheme in detail, the Chief Minister said that its course has been prepared by the Bureau of Police Research and Development, which will be conducted in two years for the students of class VIII in the current academic year 2023-24.
