Many programs will be organized in the 27th edition of this youth festival to be held from 12 to 16 January. The National Youth Festival started in 1995 as a major activity under the National Integration Camp (NIC) programme.

The Government of Maharashtra has established an important new wildlife habitat in Sangli district, aptly named Atpadi Conservation Reserve. Spread over 9.48 sq km, the reserve gives priority to the protection of the endangered canid family, including wild dogs, wolves, jackals and foxes. Strategically located, Atappadi bridges the distance between the Maini Conservation Area and Madhok Bird Sanctuary, thereby promoting a protected wildlife corridor.

Indian Navy’s multinational exercise ‘MILAN’-24 will be organized in Visakhapatnam from 19 to 27 February 2024. Earlier the 11th edition of the exercise was conducted off Visakhapatnam under the Eastern Naval Command in Feb-Mar 22. MILAN is a biennial multinational naval exercise that started in 1995 with the participation of four countries (Indonesia, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand) under the Look East policy.

National Youth Day is celebrated every year on 12 January in the country. This day is celebrated to mark the birthday of Swami Vivekananda. Swami Vivekananda, who is still an inspiration for millions of youth of the country and was one of the most influential leaders in Indian history. Every year, Vivekananda Jayanti is celebrated with great respect by the Central Government and various state governments, social organizations and followers of Ramakrishna Mission.

South Korea’s Parliament made history by passing an unprecedented bill banning the eating and selling of dog meat. The move marks the end of a centuries-old practice that has been increasingly criticized in the face of growing support for animal welfare. In South Korea, eating dog meat was once considered a way to improve stamina, especially during the humid Korean summer.
