Tamil Nadu has launched a special purpose vehicle for the conservation and restoration of coastal ecosystems including mangroves, coral, seagrass and salt marshes. The specific entity set up for this purpose has been named Tamil Nadu Blue Carbon Agency. The initiative is part of the Tamil Nadu Coastal Mission, as announced in the 2023-24 state budget, with an estimated cost of Rs 2,000 crore over five years.

Bollywood actor Shahrukh Khan, popularly known as King Khan, was honored with the ‘Indian of the Year 2023’ award in a program organized in Delhi on January 10.
