Dehradun Cantt Board in Uttarakhand started the first three polythene waste banks in the country. These polythene waste banks are strategically placed, two of which are in Garhi and one in Premnagar. The inauguration of Garhi Kuda Bank was presided over by State Urban Development Minister Premchand Aggarwal. The primary objective of these garbage banks is twofold: waste management and income generation. Various polythene waste items including bags, chips wrappers, packing bags, plastic cutters and bread wrappers will be collected.

Haryana submitted its ‘State Action Plan’ to manage paddy stubble burning to the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM). In the plan, Haryana aims to significantly reduce and potentially eliminate the incidence of fires caused by burning of paddy straw this year. To achieve this, the state plans to implement bio-decomposer applications in 5 lakh acres of land during the current harvesting season.

Bihar’s much-awaited second tiger reserve will open in late 2023 or early 2024. Kaimur Wildlife Sanctuary will be the second tiger reserve of Bihar after Valmiki Tiger Reserve (VTR). At present a total of 54 tigers are present in the state. Shergarh Fort, a major tourist attraction, as well as 58 villages, will be in the buffer zone of this tiger reserve. State forest department officials said they are working to obtain the approval of the National Tiger Reserve Conservation Authority (NTCA) to declare it a tiger reserve.

व्याख्या:- विश्व बौद्धिक संपदा संगठन द्वारा प्रकाशित ग्लोबल इनोवेशन इंडेक्स (जीआईआई) 2023 रैंकिंग में भारत ने 132 अर्थव्यवस्थाओं में से 40वीं रैंक (GII 2023 ranking) बरकरार रखी है। ग्लोबल इनोवेशन इंडेक्स (Global Innovation Index) में भारत कई सालों से तेजी से आगे बढ़ रहा है। यह साल 2015 में 81वें स्थान से बढ़कर 2023 में 40वें स्थान पर पहुंच गया है। इस साल नीति आयोग, उद्योग निकाय सीआईआई और विश्व बौद्धिक संपदा के साथ साझेदारी में संगठन (डब्ल्यूआईपीओ), 29 सितंबर, 2023 को जीआईआई 2023 के भारत लॉन्च की वर्चुअल मेजबानी कर रहा है।
India has retained the 40th rank (GII 2023 ranking) out of 132 economies in the Global Innovation Index (GII) 2023 ranking published by the World Intellectual Property Organization. India has been progressing rapidly in the Global Innovation Index for many years. It has increased from 81st position in 2015 to 40th position in 2023. This year NITI Aayog, in partnership with industry body CII and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), is hosting the India launch of GII 2023 virtually on September 29, 2023.

A total of 91 Indian universities have been ranked in the World University Rankings 2024 announced by the Times Higher Education (THE) magazine. IISc Bangalore has topped among Indian universities in this ranking. Last year, 75 Indian universities were included in this list, but this year it has increased. Renowned agricultural scientist and father of ‘Green Revolution’ in India, MS Swaminathan, passed away at the age of 98 in Chennai. Swaminathan played an important role in developing high yielding varieties of paddy. MS Swaminathan was born on August 7, 1925 in Thanjavur district of Tamil Nadu. Swaminathan was awarded the Padma Shri, Padma Bhushan and Padma Vibhushan. He was also awarded the Ramon Magsaysay Award in 1971.
